New Jersey has again reported 20 new deaths from coronavirus over a 24 hour period. New figures released by the State Wednesday put the rate of transmission at 1.08, which means for every person getting the virus, slightly one more additional person is infected. New Jersey has just over 1,000 people hospitalized with the virus.
A tornado watch has been issued for Cape May County. The National Weather Service has issued the watch until 10pm Wednesday. Authorities have identified the lifeguard who was killed by a lightning strike Monday. Police say 19 year old Keith Pinto of Toms River was killed when a lightning bolt hit his stand in Berkeley Township. Pinto was enrolled in a local community college. A makeshift memorial was established on the beach by concerned residents.
