North Wildwood will be reconstructing a portion of 17th Avenue. City Council meets on Tuesday and will discuss municipal aid program funding in the amount of $180,000 for the reconstruction of West 17th Avenue. A tax increase is coming in Wildwood. The City Commission introduced its new budget that increases the municipal tax rate by 2.7 cents. A public hearing on the new budget will take place on May 11th. Commissioner Pete Byron calls the spending plan a “no compromise budget”.

On Thursday evening a home in Vineland was destroyed by fire. The Daily Journal reports that the fire caused the roof of the house to collapse after 5:30 p.m. in the Aspen Greene community. The homeowners were out when the fire struck and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Atlantic City School District is funded, and open for business. City leaders made a payment of just over $4 million to the school district this week which keeps the schools open for the time being. The District says payroll will be met, and it currently has a little surplus to work with.
Some work will be coming to a portion of Pleasure Avenue in Sea Isle City next year. Mayor Len Desiderio announced that the city has received a grant from the State of New Jersey to resurface Pleasure Avenue from JFK Boulevard to 53rd Street. The construction project is slated for autumn of 2017.
