Governor Phil Murphy announced Tuesday that the State has provided over 824,000 vaccines for coronavirus. Murphy also announced that there are 71 new confirmed deaths from the virus, and 2,811 new positive cases. The number of daily cases has been trending down in recent days.
Boys and girls basketball games featuring Wildwood High School and Salem are being moved from Tuesday to Saturday. There is still considerable snowfall in the Salem area which has postponed these games for a second time, according to CoastSportsToday.com’s Brian Cunniff.
Dekon Fashaw is the new police chief in the City of Cape May. Fashaw was sworn in this week to the position by Mayor Zack Mullock. Fashaw replaces Anthony Marino, who retired.

Cape May County reported an additional 41 cases of coronavirus on Monday. 11 of the new cases are in Middle Township. There are two new out of county positive cases reported this week.
New Jersey state offices will continue to be closed on Tuesday. Governor Murphy says the State of Emergency caused by this week’s winter storm will continue, and all state-run vaccination locations will be closed for a second consecutive day.
New Jersey has reported 3,114 new cases of coronavirus on Monday. Officials say there are also 34 new deaths to report. Nearly 800,000 people have been vaccinated; many vaccination clinics around the state are closed today due to the winter storm.
Police in Brigantine are investigating a shooting early Monday that resulted in injuries. Police announced on their social media page that a shooting occurred on 13th Street north around 1:30am Monday; a man and woman are both hospitalized as a result of the shooting. The investigation continues.
New Jersey State Police have responded to 343 traffic accidents that have occurred during the winter storm event. These numbers were as of 10:00am Monday. Police had also responded to nearly 300 motorist assist calls.
