61 percent of residents in Cape May County are vaccinated against coronavirus. County officials announced during the weekend that there were 11 patients inside Cape Regional Medical Center with the virus as of Thursday. There are 528 active cases of the virus in the County.

The National Weather Service has extended the rip current advisory through Saturday evening. Strong rip currents will be present on local beaches through Saturday evening due to Henri, which is expected to be a hurricane when it passes far off the Jersey Shore. Rough surf and some tidal flooding are also possible.
Cape Regional Medical Center will prohibit visitors to the facility as of Saturday. The hospital announced its new policy on its social media page Friday. A 16 year old member of the Cape May Beach Patrol was critically injured during an accident involving a lifeguard boat on Thursday. Officials say the teenager experienced significant injuries when the boat he was paddling overturned in the surf. New Jersey’s coronavirus numbers are surging. State officials reported Friday over 2,400 new cases of the virus, the largest single-day total since April. The State’s seven-day average is now going up again. Cape May County has over 500 cases of the virus.
