Wildwood Police have charged a city resident in connection with a carjacking that took place earlier this month. Police announced that 47 year old James Johnson has been charged; Johnson was allegedly in possession of a .38 caliber weapon. He’s been charged with a first degree count of carjacking, and other offenses.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday for Glenn C. Kay, the owner of Beecher Kay Realty in Wildwood. Kay passed away last Thursday at his home. His father, Robert Kay, served as a New Jersey State Senator. Kay was a longtime member of the Greater Wildwood Jaycees.
Cape May County health officials reported 29 new cases of the coronavirus on Sunday. Lower and Middle townships account for nearly half of all of the cases in the County, with 75 resident cases apiece. The rate of transmission in Cape May County remains below one, which shows the spread of the virus is decreasing.
New Jersey reported fewer than 2,000 coronavirus cases on Sunday. The state also reported 25 new deaths, which is much lower than previous days. Over 1.6 million vaccines have been administered by the state, including 1.1 million first doses.
New Jersey will likely reschedule coronavirus vaccinations due to delays with getting the actual shots. State officials say winter weather is to blame for the delays. 2,671 new cases of the virus were reported on Saturday, with 51 additional deaths.
A 58 year old man from Lower Township is the latest victim of coronavirus. Cape May County officials announced the death on Saturday, along with 35 new Covid-19 cases. Lower and Middle townships continue to have more than 70 resident cases apiece.
One of the longest serving members of the New Jersey Legislature has died at the age of 86. Bergen County State Senator Gerald Cardinale died this weekend after a brief illness. The republican served for over a half century in public service. His death was not Covid-related.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will deliver the state’s budget address on Tuesday. The message will be given at 1:00pm, but it will be pre-recorded. The new budget would address the 2022 fiscal year, which begins on July 1st.
