BILL FOR INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION OF POLICE SHOOTINGS PASSES NJ SENATE

On Thursday the state Senate approved a bill that would require independent investigations of police-involved deaths. The bill would require the Attorney General’s Office to handle any investigation of police-involved fatalities, rather than the county prosecutor’s office. The bill would also require any legal actions to be held outside the jurisdiction where the death occurred.
