Cape May County is moving forward with plans to replace the bascule span on the 96th Street Bridge between Stone Harbor and Middle Township. The replacement of the bascule has been identified as the most pressing need in the County’s bridge system. The bridge was constructed 90 years ago.

26 year old Jacob Pierri of Goshen was killed Thursday morning during a motor vehicle accident on Golf Club Road in Middle Township. Township Police say Pierri was driving a 2017 Jeep Renegade that veered off the roadway and crashed in a heavily wooded area. The accident occurred shortly before 10:30am.

Middle Township will be conducting some sewer repairs starting next week. Work will be done on various streets through the community during the week. Monday’s work will involve a portion of West Pacific Avenue, and a portion of Highland Avenue.
Lower Township will conduct routine hydrant flushing starting Friday at 9:00am. Township officials say the event is maintenance flushing and not part of the routine flushing that takes place next month. Ten different hydrants will be flushed in key areas. A brief discoloration of water is possible.
Traffic patterns will be interrupted next week on the Wildwood side of the George Redding Bridge for the installation of decorative mural art which is part of the city’s new gateway project. Traffic will be detoured between the hours of 8:00am until 6:00pm, beginning next Monday and for the rest of the week.
Governor Phil Murphy has a new state budget on his desk that includes plenty of new debt, and plenty of higher taxes. The $32.7 billion budget was approved by state lawmakers on Thursday and includes $700 million in new taxes. Republicans in Trenton are highly critical of the new spending plan.
