COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT SATURDAY IN CAPE MAY COUNTY
The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for Cape May County for Saturday. There could be minor tidal flooding in some flood prone areas Saturday during high tide. Up to one foot of flood water is anticipated in flood prone areas.
TEENAGER SHOT AND KILLED IN PARKING LOT OF SOUTH JERSEY WALMART
A teenager was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Walmart store located in Burlington Township. The shooting took place Thursday night at the store, located off Mount Holly Road. The victim was 17 years old. A second shooting victim survived.
AVALON BEGINS PROJECT TO EXPAND LOCAL FIREHOUSE
Avalon is beginning a project to conduct a major expansion of its firehouse. Fencing has been established around the rear perimeter of the firehouse for the work that will begin this month. The new addition will create more room to house equipment and provide better accessibility for firefighters and the public.
NEW JERSEY TO PARTICIPATE IN SHARED INFORMATION REGARDING GUN CRIMES
New Jersey and other neighboring states in our region signed a new agreement Thursday that will result in the sharing of data regarding gun crimes. All of the governors involved are democrats, and saying gun crimes are a regional problem and shared information may lead to better legislation and enforcement.
ENVIRONMENTALISTS: FORGET BEACH PROJECTS, FOCUS ON SEA LEVEL RISE

NEW JERSEY’S RATE OF TRANSMISSION OF VIRUS CONTINUES TO FALL
The rate of transmission for coronvirus in the Garden State continues to fall. The latest figures released by the State Thursday put the rate at 0.88 percent, which means transmission of the virus is slowing. In Cape May County, there are fewer than 400 resident cases of the virus.

CITING COVID-19, ATLANTICARE SUSPENDS VISITATION TO HOSPITALS, CAMPUSES
AtlantiCare has suspended visitation to all of its hospitals citing an increase in Covid-19. The health system posted on its social media page that the suspension is temporary, and also impacts the Satellite Emergency Department. Updated visitation guidelines are posted.
COVID-19 HAS MOVED A BIG HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME TO LATER IN THE MONTH
One of the most anticipated high school football games in the local season will not be played Friday, and has been moved because of coronavirus concerns. The game between Holy Spirit and St. Augustine has been moved to October 29th. The game was to be played this week.
