A longtime member of the Atlantic City Beach Patrol has passed away at the age of 83. Robert C. McDevitt died on Thanksgiving Day. There’s been another fatal accident on Route 55. State Police say one person was killed, another injured in the northbound lanes of Route 55 in Deptford Township late Wednesday afternoon. A vehicle ran off the roadway and hit a tree in the median of the highway. Police continue their investigation.
A former police dispatcher in Absecon has been handed a 12 year prison sentence for killing a pedestrian in a drunk driving accident. 37 year old Richard Doherty of Galloway struck and killed a man on Tilton Road in February, 2015; the man died as a result of his injuries.
