The Wildwood Fire Department responded to a ruptured gas main Thursday morning in the area of Spicer and Arctic avenues. As a precaution, there was an evacuation of a property located at 3900 Arctic Avenue. There were no injuries, and the building was ventilated. The gas main broke due to construction activity. ##
Atlantic City Police have charged 31 year old Joseph Suarez with aggravated assault following an investigation into a stabbing that occurred on March 19th. Jermaine Stanley was found stabbed near Iowa and Pacific Avenues on that date. Suarez has been taken to the Atlantic County Jail. ##
New Jersey’s jobless rate has fallen to a ten year low of 4.4 percent. Labor statistics released before the weekend show New Jersey adding over 12,000 jobs last month and experiencing a 0.2 percent drop in the unemployment rate. Wildwood’s efforts to land a highly trained K-9 police dog to its ranks has paid off. Wildwood city officials introduced the public to Vera, who was obtained to assist the police department and public safety efforts. Vera has been added to the Wildwood Police Department’s roster of officers. ##

Fire has damaged a two story home on Hilltop Drive in Upper Township. The Upper Township Gazette reports that the fire call came in shortly before 8:00am Thursday and the fire was brought under control in about two hours. There were no injuries. ##
A national women’s clothing store chain with locations in nine New Jersey malls is shutting its doors forever. Bebe announced that it will close all of its stores in the United States due to staggering financial losses. The closest Bebe retail location to us is in Cherry Hill. ##
A Millville police officer has been charged with drunk driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and other offenses following an incident that occurred on March 17th. 31 year old Michael McLaughlin has been suspended with pay; this is McLaughlin’s second off duty accident in less than three years. ##
Ocean City has prevailed and can now award a contract to alleviate some major flooding issues in the resort. A judge ruled that Ocean City properly awarded a contract to a low bidder on a contract after being challenged by another bidder who challenged legal aspects of the action.
