Venter is getting a new police chief as of May 1st. The Press of Atlantic City reports that Chief Michael Miller is retiring and Captain Doug Biagi will become the new chief at the beginning of next month. ##
There are major changes coming to the schedule for a massive dune project in Margate and Longport. Longport will likely see some work conducted this summer, while Margate may skate this summer and have its work conducted in the fall. Dredges scheduled to do the work are still in Florida. ##

Upper Township officials have decided to keep two boat ramps in Strathmere free of charge. Atlantic City Police responded to two separate bomb threats on Monday morning. One threat was against a court house, the other, an apartment complex. No explosives were found, and one suspect was arrested. ##
It’s six months in prison for former Atlantic City Councilman John Schultz. He received the prison term on Monday in a federal court for his role in a scheme to avoid paying over $100,000 in taxes to the IRS. Schultz is 74 years old and took responsibility for the crime. ##
The Route 50 bridge in Tuckahoe will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic starting early Tuesday morning. State officials announced that the bridge will remain closed to traffic in both directions until Friday morning, at around 6:00am. Motorists must follow detours set up for truck traffic. ##
A member of the Dennis Township Board of Education was booted off last week because she missed too many meetings. The Middle Township Gazette reports that Tara Leith was kicked off the Board during a unanimous vote taken April 12th. Her current term was set to expire at the end of 2019. ##

A 39 year old Millville man has been charged with DUI and other offenses after he drove the wrong way on two New York state highways on Friday. Michael Flaville was spotted driving the wrong way on two highways early Friday morning near Rochester, New York. ##
