DEP Commissioner Bob Martin says a new reef in the bay and another in Manasquan Inlet will expand fishing opportunities in the State of New Jersey. The Avalon Borough Council discussed adjusting the hours for which alcoholic beverages can be sold in the community. Council is considering changing the proposed start of liquor sales on Sundays from 11:00am until either 10:00am, or 9:00am. Consider this your warning. New Jersey State Police plan to set up a sobriety checkpoint at the intersection of Routes 55 and 47 in Maurice River Township on Friday. Police won’t say what time the checkpoint will be set up, but motorists are warned in advance that it’s coming. ##
A 48 year old Camden man has been charged by local police for shoplifting merchandise at the Sears department store located at the Hamilton Mall. Police allege Terrance Thomas was accused of shoplifting and for the fraudulent use of credit cards. ##
New summer air service will be coming to the Atlantic City International Airport courtesy of Spirit Airlines. The air carrier announced that it will resume operating seasonal service to Boston and Atlanta this week. There will also be another non stop flight added between Orlando and Atlantic City. ##
Wildwood Police have announced the arrests of two adults for alleging selling and possessing drugs in their West Taylor Avenue home. Police have charged 34 year old Danny Joyner and 58 year old Dorothy Peak with multiple drug offenses. Joyner was lodged in the County Jail; Peak was released on a summons. ##
A 37 year old Middle Township man has been indicted on sexual assault charges. County Prosecutor Robert Taylor announced that Jay H. Gaskill III has been indicted on charges relating to an incident that occurred in 2015. Gaskill posted his bail which was set at $50,000 cash. ##
A full military and police escort is expected Thursday as the body of United States Marine Corps member Tyler Wechsler of Egg Harbor Township is brought from Philadelphia to a local funeral home. Wechsler’s body was found near a hiking trail in Hawaii earlier this month after he had been missing for nine days. ##
