The Cape May City Council meets Tuesday and will receive a presentation on the potential for a state/national register application for the Franklin Street School. Council may also consider the extension of the modification of tent regulations in the city.
Wildwood officials have announced that the city has obtained a bond rating from Standard and Poor’s of SP-1+, indicating the city is in good financial health despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Mayor Pete Byron says he can’t wait to see “what more we can do in 2021”.
Lower Township will prepare for the possible construction of a new public works administration building. The Township Council is expected to award a contract to an engineering firm relating to the new building. Council may also accept a bid acceptance for the reconstruction of Star Avenue.
North Wildwood’s council meets Tuesday and is expected to entertain the second reading of a capital improvement ordinance. Council is also expected to amend various employment agreements with the city administrator police chief, fire chief, and deputy fire chief.
Ocean City officials will hold a public meeting next Saturday on the potential construction of a new public safety building in the city. Mayor Jay Gillian announced that the meeting will be held on October 24th at the Ocean City Tabernacle at 10:00am.
Atlantic City Police are searching for 37 year old Martin Casiano-Roque of Atlantic City. He is wanted in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile. Police have released a photo of the suspect.
New Jersey State Police have charged 22 year old Jermaine Philo of Mays Landing with drug and gun charges following a traffic stop in Hamilton Township last Friday. Police say Philo had a 9 millimeter handgun, more than 320 grams of marijuana, and over $6,000 in cash in his possession.
Southern New Jersey belongs to President Trump. A new Stockton University poll shows that democrat Joe Biden is leading polling statewide, but South Jersey remains very solid for the President. Both Biden and Senator Cory Booker are expected to carry the Garden State.
Somers Point is getting a Target. City officials say that the old Kmart site will be used for a Target. The Press of Atlantic City reports that city construction officials have confirmed that the plans are underway. Kmart closed at the end of last year.
New Jersey is reporting five new deaths from coronavirus Friday. There are 823 new cases of the virus, which is slightly lower than the totals reported in recent days. There are nearly 100 new cases in both Essex and Huston counties.
