Police officers in North Wildwood will be wearing body cameras on Thursday. The cameras will be capturing both video and audio; Chief Matthew Gallagher believes it will create more transparency in the department. Gallagher says the cameras will also catch all the good that the officers do for city residents.
Again, it wasn’t an earthquake, just another sonic boom that rattled South Jersey Wednesday afternoon. An F-35 aircraft from Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland was responsible for the sonic boom that rattled some homes and businesses Wednesday. This was the same type of aircraft that caused a similar sonic boom on December 1st.
Macy’s is closing three department stores in New Jersey, but the Hamilton Mall location is safe, for now. Macy’s announced that more than 60 stores will close following a weak holiday season, including those in Morristown, Vorhees, and Wayne. Those three stores employ 256 people.
Erik Simonsen is the new mayor of Lower Township. Simonsen was sworn in as Lower Township’s new mayor during a reorganization meeting on Wednesday evening. Also sworn in was Deputy Mayor Frank Sippel. Simonsen has served on Council previously and ran unopposed in the November election; he replaces Mike Beck.
So long, Kmart. Kmart department stores in Rio Grande and Pleasantville will close their doors by the end of March.
