The United States Coast Guard successfully medevaced a man who became ill on a boat 28 miles off the coast of Barnegat Light on Wednesday. The 20 year old man suffered from nausea and dehydration. He was taken to a medical center for further treatment. ##
Wildwood firefighters were able to put out a fire that was on the deck of a home on West Taylor Avenue Wednesday afternoon. The fire started on a second floor deck and it was doused in 20 minutes; there were no reported injuries. ##
Governor Christie is prepared to pay state workers for time missed during the government shutdown. Christie said previously workers should not count on getting paid; now, he says he will promptly sign a bill that will pay workers during the three day shutdown of government earlier this month. ##
A Monmouth University poll shows democrat Phil Murphy with a huge lead over republican Kim Guadagno in the race to become our next governor. The first major poll gives Murphy a 26 percentage point lead over Guadagno more than three months before the election. ##
The mastermind of the “Bridgegate” scandal is a free man. A judge refused to give prison time for David Wildstein because he highly cooperated with authorities who were investigating the case. Wildstein was sentenced to three years probation and must serve 500 hours of community service. ##
A New Jersey Marine was among 16 who were killed in a crash of a military aircraft in Mississippi this week. 20 year old United States Marine Dan Baldasarre of Colts Neck lost his life; he and 14 other Marines, along with a Navy sailor, were killed in the accident. ##
Flounder catch limits that were put in place by the State of New Jersey will remain in effect through most of the summer. DEP Commissioner Robert Martin announced that federal regulators have affirmed the regulations set by the State. The minimum size remains 18 inches for summer flounder. ##
Atlantic County State Senator Jim Whelan is recovering at Pennsylvania hospital following surgery to remove a growth from one of his kidneys. Whelan’s office says the surgery was successful and he should return back home before the end of the week. ##
Atlantic County Sheriff Frank Balles is calling it quits nearly a half year before his current term ends. Balles announced that he will return to the Pleasantville Police Department and join the ranks as a Captain. He will get a pay raise to $118,000 annually with the return to Pleasantville. ##
Bridgeton Police say they found a man with a gunshot wound in the leg while searching an alley in the city early Tuesday morning. Police found five shell casings at the scene, and currently are hunting for suspects connected to the shooting. The man survived and was taken to a hospital. ##
