Margate is going to court again to stop its beach fill project. Officials met on Wednesday and decided to seek a court injunction that would halt the project which has resulted in bacteria-filled ponds adjacent to million dollar beachfront homes. One Commissioner says this project is quote “killing us”. ##
New Jersey Senator Ray Lesniak thinks it’s a good idea for other states and countries to get in to New Jersey’s growing internet gaming market. He will introduce a bill that would allow gamblers in Nevada, Delaware, and other countries to play internet casino games that are based in New Jersey. ##
There were no winners in last night’s Mega Millions lottery drawing which means Friday night’s drawing will have the 10th largest jackpot in Mega Millions history. The estimated top prize will be in the neighborhood of $323 million; it will be the 29th largest jackpot in lottery history in the United States. ##
New Jersey’s victims of Hurricane Sandy now have until September 15th to process their claims. A little over 400 state residents are due federal funds to repair their homes from the storm, but have not yet processed their paperwork. ##
The United States Coast Guard is searching for a man who was seen entering the ocean last night near Steel Pier in Atlantic City, and never returned. The Coast Guard sent the cutter “Mako” from Cape May to search for the missing swimmer overnight; so far, he has not been found. ##
The Avalon Beach Patrol won a lifeguard event on its home sand Tuesday night. Avalon edged Sea Isle City to capture the David J. Kerr Jr. Memorial Lifeguard races. Avalon edged Sea Isle City by five points. ##
A small section of the North Wildwood beachfront will be closed today and Thursday for necessary dune repairs. North Wildwood Police report that the beach between 3rd and 5th avenues will be closed in order for the stabilization of dunes to occur; the rest of the city’s beach is open. ##
If you live in New Jersey and need a job, Amazon is looking for you…today. Amazon is hoping to hire 1,500 employees over a four hour span that will end at noon. There are four Amazon locations in New Jersey and both full and part time jobs will be filled. ##
Instead of relocating, a glass company in Vineland will not only stay in the city, but expand. The Daily Journal reports that Richland Glass will stay in Cumberland County thanks to $2.2 million in tax credits offered through a state sponsored program. ##
