A 33 year old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds in Somers Point early Monday morning. Police announced that the man was the driver of an SUV that left the scene of an incident at the Somers Point Apartments. No suspects have been identified, as of early Monday afternoon.
Cape May County now has 621 cases of coronavirus. The latest total Monday added 57 new cases of the virus within the past 24 hours. Lower and Middle townships represent nearly half of the total countywide. There are zero cases in Stone Harbor, one in Cape May Point, and two in Avalon.
Former Middle Township High School football coach and athletic director Fred Grosse has passed away at the age of 89. Grosse coached the football team to four championships and recently was inducted into the Middle Township High School Hal of Fame. Funeral services wil be held Wednesday at the Radzieta Funeral Home.
There are some new promotions in the Cape May Police Department. The Department announced that John Bobik is the new Captain, and Kris Mazza is a Lieutenant. They were promoted on Friday. The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting event on its renovated building. County commissioners and other lawmakers joined business leaders in the County for the ceremony. The building has been undergoing renovation work since the spring. A major capital campaign was also launched.
