Robert Johnson is officially the new Acting Prosecutor for Cape May County. Governor Chris Christie announced that Johnson has been sworn in to replace Robert Taylor, who’s resignation is effective on Friday. Johnson has served as an Assistant Prosecutor for the past five years and is a graduate of Wildwood High School.

A free rabies clinic will be held by Middle Township this Saturday. Township officials announced that the clinic will be held for one hour, starting at 2pm, at the Public Works garage on West Mechanic Street. The event was originally scheduled to be held last Saturday.
Cyber crime has struck the Toms River Police Department. The Asbury Park Press reports that thousands of people may have had very sensitive information compromised during a data breach at police headquarters. Nearly 4,000 people will be contacted by authorities about the breach.
Dr. James Kauffman has pleaded not guilty to charges connected to a standoff he had with authorities that involved a weapon back in June. Authorities have announced that a 25 year old Bridgeton man has been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of 24 year old Celeste Cannon of Millville earlier this month. Donald Scurry was arrested on Commerce Street in Bridgeton on Wednesday and will face multiple criminal counts.

A third Dollar General store is coming to Upper Township. The Press of Atlantic City reports that the Township’s planning board approved a site plan for the store to be located on Route 50. The meeting ran long with citizens objecting to the construction of the store, citing traffic and property value concerns.
A man approached a woman in Berkeley, New Jersey earlier this month and asked to pet her dog. Just one problem, he exposed himself as he did so. Police in the community are looking for the suspect who approached the woman and exposed himself; no suspects are in custody.
