The German grocery store chain Lidl opened its first store in the Garden State, in Vineland on Thursday. Lidl opened a new grocery store near a Walmart and Shoprite. Lidl has been successful with unique store layouts and low pricing.
Congressman Frank LoBiondo voted against the Tax Cuts and Job Act in Washington. LoBiondo said his support for the Act was dependent on preserving key deductions critical to taxpayers of New Jersey. He said he couldn’t vote for the Act because it eliminated the state and local income tax deductions enjoyed by New Jersey residents.
The popular 34th Street Bridge in Ocean City will be closed overnight into Friday morning. Officials announced that the intentional bridge closure was being moved back one evening, to this evening. Work is being done on the bridge to repair its surface. The bridge will be open again Friday morning after sunup.

The fourth and final escapee from a youth detention facility was rounded up in Atlantic City on Thursday. Authorities announced the arrest of 18 year old Michael Huggins who previously faced charges of murder. He was captured early Thursday morning on North South Carolina Avenue.
Cape May County Freeholders met this week and approved two Open Space grants for Avalon that total over $2 million. The Borough will use the funding to create a new Surfside Park at 30th Street and the beach, and to extend a widely popular bicycle path in the community.

Cape May Foods will expand its operations in Millville to add another 20,000 square feet of space and as many as 30 jobs. The Daily Journal reports that Cape May Foods has operated the property on Gorton Road for the past 17 years in the Millville Industrial Park.
Three of the four juvenile youth detention inmates who escaped a facility on Wednesday have been caught, but one remains on the lam. Authorities say three suspects were caught in Bridgeton, while teenage murder suspect Michael Huggins remains on the loose. Huggins was charged with last year’s murder of DeVante Lee in Bridgeton.
