Former Saturday Night Live star Joe Piscopo will be running for governor in New Jersey this year as an independent candidate. NJ Advance Media reports that Piscopo has decided not to run as a republican because he was not able to conduct fund raising early enough to mount a campaign against other republican candidates.
One of the programs that could be extinguished by President Trump’s proposed budget is the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium. Atlantic City Police Officer Josh Vadell spoke before the weekend to a large crowd about potential state cutbacks to the Atlantic City Police Department. Vadell was critically wounded during a shooting incident last year. The state has proposed cutting the police force by 24 officers, and the fire department by 100 members. ##

A 31 year old South Jersey man has been indicted by a grand jury in Atlantic County for allegedly sexually assaulting a seven year old girl. James Ward of Bellmawr was indicted on nine criminal counts; he cared for the girl during a three year period in Brigantine. ##
