The Philadelphia Phillies have hired Gabs Kapler as their new manager, replacing Pete Mackanin. Kapler has worked for the Dodgers as the director of player development and he played 12 seasons in the major leagues. Kapler has no previous ties with the Phillies.
A 52 year old man was arrested at a Bridgeton motel, charged with two recent bank robberies including one last week in Mays Landing. Police say Thomas Allen was arrested without incident from a Days Inn. Allen is the man police believe robbed a branch of Ocean First Bank in Mays Landing last week.
A father and son officiating crew walked off the field before the start of a high school football game Friday night because some players kneeled during the National Anthem.
