Democrat Phil Murphy has earned the endorsement in the New Jersey gubernatorial race from the Newark Star-Ledger, but just barely. The newspaper endorsed Murphy today “by default”, and says he brings many of the same weaknesses that eventually doomed the political career of former governor Jon Corzine.

The Avalon Volunteer Fire Department honored the late John Ferguson IV with the title of Assistant Fire Chief this week. Ferguson passed away after a courageous battle with cancer and served the department for many years. Ferguson was named the 2016 Avalon Volunteer Fire Department’s “Firefighter of the Year”; he passed away on October 17th.
