The Wildwood Crest Borough Commission has selected Don Cabrera to be the new mayor of the community. Cabrera was picked as Mayor during the annual reorganization meeting held on January 3rd. Joining Joyce Gould on the Committee is newcomer David C. Thompson, who replaces Carl Groon.
The Delaware Bay is frozen, so that means the Cape May Lewes Ferry is grounded for now. The Delaware River and Bay Authority announced that the ferry will not be running on Saturday, and that may continue into Sunday as temperatures will fail to reach 20 degrees, and get even colder at night.
The wife of former Congressman Bill Hughes, Nancy Hughes, has passed away at the age of 82. Hughes passed away Thursday night and had been ill for several years. Nancy Hughes lived in Ocean City and was involved in many community organizations and events.

Cape May County’s government will reorganize Tuesday afternoon. County officials announced that the reorganization meeting that was cancelled due to the blizzard will be held at 4:30pm. Two freeholders, and a new sheriff, will be sworn in to office.
The Friday morning rush hour began with an accident on the Garden State Parkway, just north of the Atlantic City exit. The New Jersey Turnpike Authority reports an accident in the northbound lanes just north of Exit 38; the right lane has been blocked. No word of any injuries.
