Governor Christie took shots at former President Barack Obama during an event at a drug treatment facility in Newark on Wednesday. Christie told reporters that the epidemic did not start on the day President Trump began his four year term, and challenged reporters to tell him anything President Obama to address the national crisis.
The Middle Township Committee will hold its reorganization meeting on New Year’s Day. During the meeting, republican Tim Donohue will be sworn in to another three-year term in office. During the meeting, official business will be conducted including the selection of the Mayor.
A well known Ventnor businessman has been charged with allegedly stealing money that was earmarked for hurricane relief victims in Puerto Rico. Michael Einwechter has been accused of soliciting funds for storm victims and keeping the money. The Press of Atlantic City reports that Einwechter was charged on Wednesday, and his truck was confiscated.
Longtime New Jersey State Senator Jeff Van Drew will run for Congress next year. Van Drew made it official today, announcing that he will seek the Congressional seat being vacated by the retirement of republican Frank LoBiondo. Earlier this month, Van Drew was elected to his fourth term in the New Jersey State Senate.
81 cats, in one home in South Jersey. 61 year old Brenda McCann of Franklin Township has been charged with animal cruelty after authorities found the felines roaming in her home. Many of the cats have medical and hygiene issues.
The West Cape May Borough Commission is meeting tonight and will discuss various regulation changes associated with trees and vegetation. An ordinance will also be discussed that addresses newly paved streets, and sidewalks. The meeting begins at 7:00pm.
The Linwood Country Club has been sold. The Board of Directors for the Club announced today that the facility has been sold to the Dougherty family which operates some restaurants in Atlantic City. The golf course is expected to remain a golf course with various improvements planned for the future.
Bags of headless birds were found twice in three days in Little Egg Harbor. Atlantic City is preparing for another property auction in two weeks. An auction will be held at the Atlantic City Convention Center on December 12th in an attempt to auction off 88 properties in the city. This will be the third auction of public property in the past 18 months.
A dispute between North Wildwood and the operators of the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse has apparently escalated.
