The West Cape May Volunteer Fire Company is offering free smoke alarms to residents of the community. The Department will come to the home and install the alarm to any full time, year ’round residents of the community, excluding rental properties. A limited number of smoke alarms are available for free, which includes installation.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed new legislation on Monday that legalizes breast feeding in the workplace. Employers will no longer be able to discriminate against women who elect to feed their infants in the workplace.

Vineland Police are investigating a shooting incident Monday afternoon on the property of the Cumberland Mall. Police say a man was shot in the leg near the Boscov’s Department Store. The victim told police he arrived at the Mall to purchase narcotics from another individual.

Amazon will get a tax break of $100,000 per employee if it constructs its second headquarters in Newark. Lawmakers approved the bill on Monday. The idea was drafted by Governor Christie who wants Amazon to come to the Garden State and create thousands of new jobs.
Richard Palombo has been returned to the position of Mayor in Upper Township. Palombo will serve as mayor for the 18th consecutive year following the Township’s reorganization of government which was held on Friday. Democrats have not held a seat on the Upper Township Committee for over two decades.

A new bill that would name Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City in the memory of the late State Senator Jim Whelan now heads to the governor’s desk for his signature. Whelan passed away last year after previously serving in the State Legislature, and as Mayor of the city.
A new measure approved by lawmakers in Trenton would authorize a property tax exemption for totally disabled veterans in New Jersey. The bill now heads to the desk of Governor Christie for his consideration. To qualify, a veteran would have to be 100 percent disabled as a result of their service.
