Township officials announced that the meeting will be held on February 6th at 6:00pm, at Township Hall. One guest speaker will be the coordinator of Rutgers University’s Aquaculture Program.
Two women were busted on drug charges during a traffic stop on the Garden State Parkway this week in Little Egg Harbor Township. Police say 34 year old Emily Nicholson and 35 year old Carey Mayo were busted for possessing heroin and needles; both were slapped with multiple drug offenses.
A Beach Drive safety improvement project in Lower Township is underway. Township officials announced that a contractor has mobilized and has begun the various improvements that will enhance both bicycle and pedestrian safety. Township officials say some detours are likely during this project, which should wrap up in time for Memorial Day weekend.
A two-vehicle accident on Route 9 in Upper Township Thursday afternoon resulted in one serious injury. State Police say 79 year old Dorothea Whildin was airlifted away from the accident scene with serious injuries. The accident closed down a section of the highway for a few hours.

A Hammonton man has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide in connection with an accident in Gloucester County last year. Authorities announced that 27 year old Elliott Festa Jr. was driving at a speed in excess of 100 mph when his vehicle collided with another, resulting in two deaths.
Police in Hamilton Township say a 58 year old man was injured when his car struck a utility pole and a mailbox during a single vehicle accident on Route 40. Police say Lawrence Potts of Franklinville drove into the pole shortly after 4pm on Thursday. The road was closed for several hours following the accident.
Jeffrey Christopher is the new Chief of Police in Avalon. Christopher was sworn in by Mayor Marty Pagliughi during a ceremony before Avalon Borough Council Wednesday afternoon. Christopher replaces William McCormick who enjoyed a 31-year career with the Borough. John Roscoe was named the department’s new Captain.
Pleasantville Police and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office are both investigating a fatal shooting in the city early Thursday. Authorities say one man was killed during the shooting around 2:00am Thursday on Lafayette Avenue. No suspects are in custody.
