Former Atlantic County physician James Kauffman is being moved to the Hudson County Jail for his own protection. Kauffman appeared in court via video on Thursday and was officially charged with arranging for the killing of his wife, April, five years ago. Kauffman’s attorney continues to insist that his client is not guilty.
Wentzlvania will be heading across the pond in October. The Philadelphia Eagles announced that they will playing a game in London on October 21st or 28th against the Jacksonville Jaguars. This will be the Eagles’ first trip to play a regular season game in London.

The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority announced that the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bash will be held on June 4-5th in the city. The culmination of the event will be televised on that Tuesday night, on the Golf Channel.
A heroic rescue of a German Shepherd dog who was falling through some ice on the Mullica River in Atlantic County on Wednesday. The dog named Quincy was stuck in the ice and fell through into the cold water. Firefighters used a rope and other safety equipment to rescue the dog; he’s doing ok.
The armed standoff in Gloucester County has ended. Police there say an overnight standoff with a man armed with a gun ended peacefully this morning. The standoff resulted in schools being closed in Gloucester Township, and residents told to stay inside their homes.
An overnight fire has caused significant damage to a popular South Jersey diner. The Country Town Diner on the White Horse Pike in Berlin suffered heavy fire and smoke damage this morning. The White Horse Pike in that area was closed down overnight, but reopened around 3:00am. No word yet on what caused the fire.
A man has fired shots at police officers and remains barricaded in a home in Gloucester County. The situation developed Thursday morning and all schools in Gloucester Township are closed, and residents who live near the shooting are being told to shelter in place. Police have established a staging area at Timber Creek High School.
Cape May’s Planning Board passed on a plan that would create a redevelopment zone near the Washington Street Mall. The conversation about the proposed zone packed the meeting on Tuesday night. The block in the city that was slated for the zone lies near the Mall, and includes a supermarket.
It’s full steam ahead for a major Beach Drive project on Lower Township’s bay side this year. The Township Council has approved a contract that will result in a sidewalk being installed along the bayfront that will make it safer for pedestrians and bicyclists. The project drew some contentious opposition at previous Council meetings.
Vineland Police are investigating an armed robbery Tuesday night that occurred at a Family Dollar Store. Police say a man approached the clerk behind the cash register, produced a small gun, and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
