Avalon and Stone Harbor will share the same court starting January 1st. The Stone Harbor Borough Council approved the five-year agreement on Tuesday; Avalon did so on Monday. All of the court operations will be held in Stone Harbor and the towns will share essential positions, including court administrator and in time, municipal judge.
The rate of transmission for coronavirus in New Jersey is trending the wrong way. New information released by the state on Tuesday shows both the rate of transmission and the positivity rate are both increasing dramatically in the Garden State. New Jersey reported over 4,000 new cases on Tuesday, and 27 additional deaths.
New Jersey wants colleges and universities in our region to provide Covid-19 tests to their students before those students return home. Governor Phil Murphy made the announcement during his Tuesday briefing, and says states in our region are on board with the joint request.
A Cape May Lewes Ferry vessel that left the Cape May Canal last night wound up getting stuck on a sandbar due to high winds. NJ.com reports that none of the 23 passengers on board the vessel were injured during the incident. Sea Tow responded and help get the boat un-stuck from the sand bar.

Jim Ridgeway has retired as Township Manager for Lower Township, and is being replaced by Mike Laffey. Ridgeway has served as Township Manager in Lower Township for the past five years after working in the Department of Recreation. Laffey previously served as Director of Operations for the County of Cape May.

New Jersey has reported 38 new deaths from coronavirus. State officials also announced over 4,000 new cases of the virus Tuesday. The state has averaged well over 3,000 cases each of the past seven days. On Tuesday, new indoor gathering restrictions went into effect that restricts gatherings to ten people.
A 12 year old boy has been charged with arson in connection with a fire at the Acme Supermarket in Ocean City Sunday that has closed the store for the time being. NJ.com reports that the juvenile was arrested and charged on Monday. The child has been released to the custody of his parents.
