The Ocean City Public School District is reporting 31 positive cases of Covid-19. In a posting on the front page of the District’s website dated November 23rd, the District has also had over 200 staff and students placed in quarantine. The report cites statistics as of November 20th.
Ocean City will still hold its town hall meeting on flooding on December 5th, but now it will be held virtually. The city also announced that its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ceremony will be held virtually as well.
A 12 year old boy has been charged with arson in connection with a fire at the Acme Supermarket in Ocean City Sunday that has closed the store for the time being. NJ.com reports that the juvenile was arrested and charged on Monday. The child has been released to the custody of his parents.
A fire inside the parking garage at the Ocean City Acme supermarket has closed the store until further notice. The Press of Atlantic city reports that the fire started Sunday afternoon, and the store was evacuated. It took firemen 20 minutes to put out the blaze. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Ocean City is moving forward with a new public safety building. Mayor Jay Gillian announced that city council approved the first reading of the bond ordinance last week. Gillian says the new building will house police, fire, EMT’s dispatch, and emergency management operations.

Ocean City Police have released photos of a man who is wanted by police for allegedly committing an assault. Police say the assault occurred Saturday morning at 18th Street and Central Avenue. Police are asking any member of the public who has information about this suspect to contact the department.
