The Ocean City Board of Education approved a new school budget this week that has a minimal decrease in the tax rate. The new budget is about $175,000 less than last year’s spending plan and results in a one tenth of a one cent decrease in the tax rate. The budget totals $44.4 million.

Ocean City may try to purchase the site of a former BP Gasoline station. Council has negotiated a purchase price just shy of a half million dollars for the property which sits near the Route 52 causeway. There are currently three closed gasoline stations on the Ninth Street corridor in the resort.
A beach replenishment project heads back to Ocean City. A dredge owned by Great Lakes departed Sea Isle City and is expected to work on Ocean City’s beaches between 52nd and 59th streets. Additional work is also expected north to 37th Street. Mayor Jay Gillian expects this work to be completed by May 30th.
