Ocean City officials announced that a meeting will be held with Orsted, a company that has been authorized to develop an offshore wind farm off our coastline. The meeting will be held next Tuesday at the Stainton Senior Center, starting at 6:30pm.
Ocean City residents were briefed over the weekend by the Cape May County MUA on a major sewer project that’s coming. Two force water mains will be replaced starting after Labor Day weekend that will inconvenience residents during the entire off season. More than 20 blocks of mains need to be replaced.
Wednesday’s thunderstorms resulted in lightning hitting a rented beach stand in Ocean City. The lightning bolt struck the beach around 2pm and ignited the stand in flames. Firemen put the fire out, and the stand was removed from the beach. There were no injuries.

A chemical spill in an Ocean City alleyway was cleaned up Tuesday. The Press of Atlantic City reports that a truck spilled some caustic chemicals in an alley, causing a brief evacuation of some nearby businesses as a precaution. There are no reported injuries. Sand was provided to help assist with the cleanup.
Ocean City will used trained raptors in order to prevent seagulls from stealing human food on the city’s boardwalk. Mayor Jay Gillian announced that the mere presence of the raptors will be enough to keep the seagulls away from the boardwalk naturally. The anti-seagull birds are hawks, falcons, and owls.
Ocean City will experience a pre-dawn scheduled power outage on Wednesday. Mayor Jay Gillian announced that the outage is needed by Atlantic City Electric for a power load transfer. The event will be completed by 4:30am.
