60 year old John Carroll of Belmar was struck and killed by a passing car as he stood on the shoulder of the Garden State Parkway in Holmdel. New Jersey State Police say the accident occurred Friday night near milepost 115.9. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured in the accident.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed a new environmental justice bill in to law Friday. The bill will help protect vulnerable New Jersey communities from further threats of pollution. The bill requires the state to look at how much additional pollution would come to vulnerable communities if new factories or plants are developed.
