Standard and Poor’s believes Governor Christie’s proposed $35.5 billion state budget would stress both local school districts and municipalities. The rating agency says many school districts will not get additional state aid and that will be a problem for these districts as they attempt to meet expenses. ##

Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno has proposed a new tax plan for New Jersey as she embarks on her own bid for Chris Christie’s job in November. Guadagno’s plan would limit the amount of school taxes paid by residents when that amount reaches five percent of the household’s income. ##
