STATE SHUTDOWN CONTINUES MONDAY; MORE OFFICES CLOSED

New Jersey’s government shutdown continues Monday with more meetings planned and no end to the lockout in sight. Governor Christie has closed even more state offices including travel and tourism offices and courts. A special session of the New Jersey Legislature is being convened this morning in attempt to end the stalemate. ##

STATE SHUTDOWN ENTERS MONDAY, NO RESOLUTION IN SIGHT

No resolution is in sight for the shutdown of New Jersey’s government, as Monday begins the third day with no budget agreement. Senate President Steve Sweeney will meet with Robert Marino, CEO of Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey, on Monday in attempt to unlock the stalemate.

CHRISTIE ORDERS LAWMAKERS BACK TO TRENTON SUNDAY

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has seen enough, and he’s ordering state lawmakers back to Trenton on Sunday to solve the budget crisis. Christie has already ordered the shutdown of non-essential state services and now wants democrats to work towards a solution to the budget impasse. ##

President Trump is spending the weekend in Bedminster, New Jersey. Trump will spend the holiday weekend at his golf club. He landed at Morristown Airport Friday afternoon and then took a helicopter to his golf club. No word yet if the President plans on making any public appearances. ##

Governor Christie says state employees should not count on receiving pay they accrued during the government shutdown. Christie says he is nothing like former governor Jon Corzine who paid state workers after government shut down back in 2006. ##

NEW JERSEY CLOSED; GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN UNDERWAY

The State of New Jersey is closed. Governor Christie ordered a government shutdown and state of emergency at 12:02am Saturday because lawmakers failed to reach agreement on a new budget. STATE POLICE STEPPING UP DUI PATROLS FOR HOLIDAY WEEKEND

New Jersey State Police are stepping up their enforcement of DUI patrols over the July 4th holiday weekend. Police say more than 110 troopers will be on assignment-specific detail to identify and pull over intoxicated drivers. Seat belt usage and distracted driving will also be enforced. ##

DEMOCRATS NOW FIGHTING ABOUT LACK OF A STATE BUDGET

Democrats in New Jersey are now battling each other over the lack of a new budget which is due by midnight. Senate President Steve Sweeney says fellow democrat, Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto, is risking a budget shutdown because he doesn’t agree with a plan to tap Horizon’s reserves. ##
