New Jersey’s annual six day bear hunt began at sunrise on Monday. State officials authorize the hunt to thin out the bear herd in northern counties including Hunterdon, Morris, Susex, and Warren. The annual hunt has occurred for the past eight years.
A 79 year old woman who went missing was found dead in a wooded area of Toms River. Police in the community say Martha Hesse’s body was found Saturday morning by searchers; no foul play is suspected. Her body was found near a senior community where Hesse lived.
New Jersey Attorney General Chris Porrino announced a major lawsuit has been filed against a drug manufacturer for aggressively pushing its pills, which caused addictions and death. Therapeutics, Inc. of Arizona highly marketed and pushed an addictive opioid that was targeted towards cancer patients. Porrino called the conduct “evil”.
A 26 year old Williamstown man was arrested and charged with taking upskirt photos of women inside a Walmart. Joshua J. Nicholas was charged with harassment and invasion of privacy. The incident occurred in a Walmart in Turnersville.
Bruce Springsteen will never run for governor of New Jersey. Springsteen told an entertainment magazine that he has no business in politics, and no interested in policy-making. Springsteen also admits that people come to concerts to be entertained, and music does that well.
New Jersey will reportedly file major lawsuits against companies who manufacture opioid drugs for distribution in the Garden State. NJ Advance Media reports that sources say the the makers of OxyContin and Fentanyl will be targets of lawsuits for deceptive practices.
Republican gubernatorial nominee Kim Guadagno says she would not change New Jersey’s gun laws, if elected. Guadagno told reporters this week that New Jersey already has some of the toughest gun laws in the United States. She says better enforcement of the current laws is on her radar.
A Camden County woman remains in jail after she beat her boyfriend to death by using frying pans. Authorities say Maleia Cole beat her boyfriend to death by repeatedly hitting him over the head with frying pans in early September. The victim died three weeks after the beating.
If the election were held today, Phil Murphy would be your next governor. A new Monmouth University poll shows that Murphy holds a 14 percentage point lead over Kim Guadagno for governor. Guadagno’s popularity is being hindered due to serving under the most unpopular governor in State history, Chris Christie.
Republican Kim Guadagno believes she can still win New Jersey’s gubernatorial race despite trailing democrat Phil Murphy by double digits with six weeks until Election Day. Pollsters believe Guadagno’s link to her boss, Governor Chris Christie, is hurting her popularity through the State. Guadagno trails Murphy in most polls by about 13 percentage points.
