A very large forest fire in Ocean County has been contained. State officials say the fire that has charred nearly 600 acres in the Greenwood Forest Wildlife Management Area has been contained and led to no evacuations. A local roadway that runs near the forest was reopened before the end of the weekend.
The United States Coast Guard is looking for a man who jumped off the Delaware Memorial Bridge Sunday morning. The man stopped his car on the New Jersey-bound side of the bridge around 8:00am Sunday, and jumped off. The distance to the water is about 200 feet. The vehicle had Maryland license plates.
No job in Washington for Governor Christie…yet. Christie and President Trump had lunch in Washington on Tuesday, and various reports say no job offer was made by the President. Albert Boscov has died at the age of 87. Boscov founded the popular Boscov’s Department Store chain that has a store in Atlantic County. Boscov battled pancreatic cancer and recently told employees that he did not have much time left. The family will continue operating the stores.
North Wildwood intends to knock down the old Triangle Restaurant that was damaged during Hurricane Sandy. Council authorized a resolution this month that will put the demolition project out to bid. The restaurant never reopened following the October, 2012 storm.
