Governor Phil Murphy has selected a new leader of New Jersey Transit. On Tuesday Murphy introduced Kevin Corbett as the new executive director of the transit agency. Corbett has worked for a consulting company that has performed work for NJT.
A big beach project in central New Jersey will use dredge materials to help shore up the coastline. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection announced today that sand dredged from the Little Egg Inlet for navigation purposes will be placed on the southern beaches of Long Beach Island. The project will cost $18.4 million.
The mayor of one New Jersey beach community says he will file a lawsuit to stop a beach nourishment project to restore the beaches following Hurricane Sandy.
