POWER COMPANIES GET SCOLDED FOR POOR RESPONSE DURING NJ STORMS

$522 MILLION TICKET SOLD IN CALIFORNIA, TWO $1 MILLION IN NJ

The Mega Millions lottery jackpot produced a $522 million winner in California.  New Jersey Lottery officials say two tickets worth $1 million apiece were sold in the Garden State.  The winning numbers were 1, 24, 19, 29 with a Megaball of 20.

POT CASES NOW STONED BY NEW JERSEY ATTORNEY GENERAL

Any marijuana-related cases in the Garden State have been adjourned until early September, or later.  New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal announced that all municipal prosecutors should not prosecute any marijuana related offense until then.  New Jersey is moving towards the eventual legalization of pot.

$512 million is up for grabs in Tuesday night’s Mega Millions lottery jackpot drawing.  New Jersey Lottery officials announced that there was no winner in the drawing over the weekend, which pushes the top prize even higher.  There was one lucky winner who earned $1 million from Friday night’s drawing.

FIGHTER JET INTERCEPTS PLANE NEAR TRUMP’S NJ GOLF COURSE

A fighter jet intercepted a small aircraft that violated airspace near President Trump’s golf course while he was there.  An F-16 jet intercepted the plane Saturday afternoon; the plane had no clearances.  Trump heads back to Washington on Sunday.

SMOKING BANNED ON NEW JERSEY BEACHES, GOVERNOR SIGNS BILL

New Jersey’s beaches are going smoke-free.  Governor Phil Murphy signed a bill Friday morning in Long Branch that eliminates smoking at public beaches and parks in the Garden State.  Towns may reserve up to 15 percent of their beaches for smoking, if they choose to.

PRESDIENT TRUMP RETURNS TO NEW JERSEY ON FRIDAY

President Trump returns to his golf club in Bedminster on Friday.  This will be the President’s third weekend trip to the Garden State in the past four weeks.  There will be flight restrictions around the northern New Jersey region for the President’s visit.

SAY WHAT? ONE NJ LAWMAKER WANTS TO TAX YOUR TAP WATER

Better drink half a glass…New Jersey democratic Senator Bob Smith wants to tax your tap water in order to replace the state’s aging pipelines.  Smith’s bill intends to tax you ten cents for every 1,000 gallons of tap water consumed.  The bill still has to meander through the State Legislature.

GOVERNOR WILL SIGN BILL FRIDAY BANNING SMOKING ON PUBLIC BEACHES

Governor Murphy will sign a bill Friday that will ban smoking from all public beaches and parks in New Jersey.  Local beach towns will be allowed to reserve up to 15 percent of their beaches, but few are expected to do so.  The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection must provide some sort of assistance…
