A chemical plant in Delaware that wound up closing the Delaware Memorial Bridge during part of Thanksgiving weekend will be coughing up over $100,000 to the Delaware River and Bay Authority. A chemical leak at the plant made driving on the bridge unsafe, forcing a seven hour closure of the span.
The ethics investigation involving Senator Robert Menendez is now over. Federal officials have closed the files on the investigation, essentially ending the case. Menendez was the trigger as he amended an earnings report showing that he in fact did receive six figures in travel expenses.
A 44 year old Union County man has admitted that he possessed 200,000 files of child pornography on his computer. Authorities say MD Farid Uddin pleaded guilty to a second degree charge and will face six years in prison. Uddin also had $1 million worth of counterfeit perfume in his garage.
Starting in July, the new minimum wage in New Jersey will be $10 per hour. Governor Murphy signed the minimum wage bill into law Monday, which will escalate the base pay wage to $15 an hour by 2024. Murphy says one million New Jersey workers will benefit from this new law.
David Sommers of Levittown, PA was in court Monday and pleaded guilty to charges that he would drive to New Jersey to illegally harvest diamondback terrapin turtles, and their eggs. Sommers could now face up to five years in prison along with a quarter of a million dollars in fines, along with restitution.

Governor Phil Murphy is expected to sign legislation that will greatly expand the family leave laws in New Jersey. The new measure will increase the eligibility period for paid family leave from six to 12 weeks and raise the amount earned by the caregiver to 85 percent of his or her salary.
New Jersey Senator Cory Booker is running for President. Booker announced Friday morning on social media that he will seek the democratic nomination for president. Booker is 49 years old, and says “we can build a country where no one is forgotten, no one is left behind”.
The minimum wage is going up this summer in New Jersey. The New Jersey Legislature approved a new bill that will increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2024. This summer the wage will increase to $10 an hour, and go up by one dollar each year until it hits the $15 mark.
