The United States Coast Guard rescued four people from a boat that was taking on water Saturday. The Guard was assisted by a local ferry service in rescuing the four individuals on board the 21 foot boat. There were no injuries; all four on the boat were wearing life jackets.
A New Jersey State trooper was struck by a car and injured on the New Jersey Turnpike in Burlington County on Friday. The trooper was awake and alert at Cooper University Health Care after the accident. He suffered a leg injury while he was investigating another accident.
A doctor from Mullica Hill was killed Thursday during a traffic accident that was caused by snow and treacherous driving conditions. 52 year old Dr. Michael Robinson lost his life in an accident in Mantua Township. This is one of two reported traffic accidents resulting from Thursday’s wintry weather in the Garden State.
Former governor Chris Christie is among those highly critical of the winter storm response in northern New Jersey. The country’s flood insurance program is nearly out of funds, and Senator Robert Menendez has introduced federal legislation to put more money into the program. Without the additional revenue, the National Flood Insurance Program will expire on November 30th. Menendez says he has bi partisan support.

New Jersey has announced a new tax amnesty program that is in effect through January 15th. Anyone who owes back taxes can have interest cut in half, and all penalties waived if they pay up by that date. It applies to filings dating back to 2009.
