Reverend Monsignor Phillip Lowery served as chaplain for nearly a quarter century, providing prayers and benedictions for State Police class graduations. He also comforted law enforcement personnel in their time of need.

A 29 year old man who exchanged gunfire with police in Tuckerton on Thursday was arrested later that night at Penn Station in New York City. Miguel Angel Villegas was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service and New York City Police. Villegas will be charged with attempted murder.
Shots were exchanged between a man and a police officer in Tuckerton Thursday morning, and the search is on for the suspect. The suspect fled the area on a tricycle, and it was recovered a half mile from the scene of the shooting. Local schools went into lockdown; there were no injuries.
Seedlings from a 600 year old tree that fell in Salem County will be delivered to every single community in New Jersey. State officials say all 565 towns in the Garden State will be receiving the seedlings for their consideration for planting. The tree fell back in June.
