Governor Phil Murphy says a new 12-page report on how to tackle the state’s escalating pension and health care costs provides a path forward. The state is currently $152 billion in debt for past and current liabilities. The pension system provides benefits to over 800,000 state and municipal workers.

Congress last night authorized a bill that will finance the Coastal Heritage Trail in New Jersey. The measure was supported and introduced by outgoing Congressman Frank LoBiondo, who is retiring after his current term expires. The trail has been established in New Jersey since 1988.
