FLAGS TO FLY AT HALF STAFF THURSDAY FOR SLAIN NEW JERSEY SOLDIER

Governor Phil Murphy has ordered flags to fly at half staff on Thursday for Sgt. 1st Class Michael J. Goble of Westwood who was killed during a roadside bombing in Afghanistan last month.  Goble will be laid to rest Thursday at Arlington National Cemetery; he was 33 years old

STATE POLICE: TRAFFIC FATALITIES HAVE HIT A FIVE YEAR LOW

The number of traffic fatalities statewide is now at a five year low, according to the New Jersey State Police.  Last year, there were 559 fatalities reported in the Garden State, four fewer than the previous year.  Driver inattention still remains a primary cause of fatal traffic accidents.

TOLL HIKE COMES THIS WEEKEND ON BRIDGE THAT LINKS NJ, PA TURNPIKES

Tolls will be going up this weekend on the bridge that crosses the Delaware River and links the New Jersey and Pennsylvania turnpikes.  A six percent fare increase goes into effect on Sunday; the rate increase was approved last summer.

TWO KILLED IN NEW JERSEY HOUSE FIRE ON NEW YEAR’S EVE

Two people died during a stubborn house fire in Morris County on New Year’s Eve.  Police say the fire started at dusk where one person was dead inside the home and a second injured.  That person was taken via helicopter to a local hospital and also perished.

STATE POLICE PUTTING ADDITIONAL PATROLS ON FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE

New Jersey State Police will be looking for drunk drivers Tuesday night.  Police say there will be 46 additional state troopers working Tuesday evening and they will focus on speeding, drunk driving and aggressive driving.  Last year, there were two fatal accidents in New Jersey during the holiday; both drivers were impaired.

GO FUND ME PAGE RAISES OVER $137,000 FOR SLAIN SOLDIER’S FAMILY

A Go Fund Me page has raised over $137,000 for the family of slain United States soldier Sgt. 1st Class Michael Goble of New Jersey.  Goble was killed last week while seizing a Taliban weapons cache in Kunduz Province.  Goble was 33 years old, and from Bergen County.

DEFROCKED CARDINAL MCCARRICK SENT $600K TO CLERICS, POPES AND MORE

Defrocked former Cardinal Theodore McCarrick sent over $600,000 in donor money to clerics, at least two popes, and others with little to no oversight.  These startling revelations have been detailed in the Washington Post.  McCarrick used to serve as the Archbishop of Newark, NJ before being defrocked last year by Pope Francis.
