REPORT: FOUR MODELL’S SPORTING GOODS STORE TO CLOSE IN NEW JERSEY

Four Modell’s Sporting Goods locations in New Jersey are scheduled to close due to downsizing.  NJ Advance Media reports that the stores are located in Englishtown, Rockaway, West Berlin, and Woodbridge.  The Modell’s chain lost $50 million during 2019.

GOVERNOR MURPHY: I LIKELY HAVE KIDNEY CANCER

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy says he has a tumor on his kidney that is likely cancerous.  Murphy announced the illness on social media over the weekend and he will undergo surgery on his left kidney.  Murphy is expected to run for re-election next year, and deliver a budget address this week.

REPORT: NJ BEACH TOWN HANDING OUT CASH FINES FOR DOG DOO

One New Jersey beach community has handed out over 40 tickets to people who’s dogs defecating on the town’s boardwalk.  Point Pleasant Beach has had enough of this sanitary issue and is handing out fines worth $150 apiece, according to NJ Advance Media.  Dogs have been banned from the boardwalk under a longstanding ordinance.

70 YEAR OLD SCHOOL BUS DRIVER SEXUALLY ASSAULTS MINORS

A 70 year old school bus driver from northern New Jersey has been charged with sexually assaulting two female students, both minors.  Authorities say Thomas Thomasevich of Oakland is accused of assaulting two girls under the age of 13 in front of other students.  He works for a school bus company based in Butler.

NEW REGULATIONS IN EFFECT FOR STRIPER FISHING IN NEW JERSEY

There are new rules in effect for striper fishing in New Jersey.  The New Jersey Marine Fisheries Council approved new regulations for stripers.  You can keep one fish between 28 and 38 inches long.  The bonus permit program also remains in effect.

CHANGE YOUR GENDER? NOW YOU CAN HAVE YOUR LICENSE REFLECT IT

If you ever decide to change your gender, you can now have that move reflected on your New Jersey driver’s license.  The Motor Vehicle Commission announced that customers may now change their gender designation without a doctor’s note.  A duplicate license will be needed, and that costs $11.
