Nine low level offenders have been released from the Cape May County Jail as the State releases inmates due to the coronavirus outbreak. NJ.com reports that nine were released, and nine received objections. Atlantic County had 28 inmates released, Cumberland County, 23.
Yet another visitor from out of state has tested positive for coronavirus in Cape May County. Tuesday afternoon, the Cape May County Department of Health announced that a 32 year old woman from New York tested positive for the virus. This is the sixth case reported in Cape May County.
One New Jersey beach town has closed its beaches due to the coronavirus. Seaside Heights Mayor Anthony Vaz ordered his town to shut down access to beaches and bays. Vas says instead, people should walk and exercise in their own neighborhoods.
New Jersey has frozen nearly $1 billion in spending in order to keep the State afloat through the coronavirus crisis. Among the big freezes…the popular Homestead Rebate Program, which provides tax relief to state residents. Elective surgeries in New Jersey will come to an end Friday at 5:00pm. Governor Phil Murphy announced that all elective surgeries will be cancelled and rescheduled after the coronavirus. Murphy says medical resources can be put to better use.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced Monday that he’s aware of at least 8,000 jobs that are open and need to be filled during the coronavirus. Murphy says many supermarkets are hiring, and need help immediately. At least two grocery store chains in our region have signs up in their stores, actively seeking employees.
