New Jersey Congressman Frank LoBiondo has announced a $158,000 grant for the Green Creek Volunteer Fire Company. LoBiondo says this is the fourth grant the fire company has been able to obtain; another $162,000 grant has been obtained by the Goshen Fire Company as well.
South Jersey Gas plans some major natural gas upgrades in Middle Township starting in about two weeks. The Middle Township Committee meets Wednesday night and is expected to approve a resolution that will authorize an accelerated tax sale in the community. The Committee may also authorize a contract for the Lomax Consulting Group for an environmental project.

Traffic leaving the Jersey Shore early Monday morning was slow at spots along Route 47 in Middle Township. State transportation officials report slow going on the highway leading to the 347 split. Traffic is expected to be gridlocked in the northbound direction on parts of Route 47 throughout the day and early evening. ##
Local communities are putting out advisories regarding trash and recycling collection schedules. Avalon and Ocean City will return to once per week collections starting on September 11th. Middle Township’s trash and recycling service will be delayed for a day during the week of Labor Day, due to the holiday on Monday. ##
Middle Township’s community garden in Whitesboro was a big success this summer. Township officials say the community project is located next to the Whitesboro School; children learn the process of growing vegetables after they planted seeds and watered them. ##
The National Transportation Safety Board has released a preliminary report regarding a banner plane accident in Middle Township nine days ago. The report indicates that the plane’s engine lost power and the 20 year old pilot landed it in a marsh. The pilot was certified to fly the aircraft. ##
