A 65 year old man from Cape May Beach was killed in a pedestrian-motor vehicle accident in Lower Township on Thursday. Township Police say John M. A new playground is now open at Mitnick Park in Lower Township. Township officials were on hand this week for the opening of the new playground which was immediately tested by first graders in Mrs. Ackroyd’s class at the elementary school. The new playground offers ADA handicapped accessibility.
The doors to the Mitnick Elementary School in Lower Township are closed today. Lower Township Police announced a power outage at the school has forced the school to go to a virtual session today. Full virtual learning is available.
Lower Township Police have issued a missing person’s report for 40 year old Laura Price. Police say she was last seen in late April in Havre de Grace, Maryland in her white Lexus. Police say she is possibly headed to New Jersey.
The Motor Vehicle Commission licensing center in North Cape May is closed due to coronavirus. Commission officials announced Monday night that an employee tested positive for the virus, which will keep the Center closed down through May 12th. 75 percent of all Commission transactions are offered online.

One of the items at a weekend yard sale in Lower Township? A hand grenade. Township Police report that a hand grenade was found at a yard sale on Shore Drive on Saturday. The area of the yard sale was evacuated, and the grenade was safely secured by the Atlantic City Bomb Squad.
Lower Township Police have announced a road advisory, telling drivers to avoid the area of Sunnyside Drive and Fieldview Drive for road work that is ongoing. Police say there are repairs underway to the roadway at Sunnyside and Town Bank Road.
Lower Township Police have announced the apprehension of a fugitive from Ohio following a hit and run accident on Wednesday. Police announced the arrest of Nicholas Bosna of Ohio who originally provided police with a false identification. Bosna was wanted on outstanding warrants from Ohio, as well as multiple local outstanding warrants.
Lower Township Police have issued a missing person’s alert for 33 year old Paul Shibles. He was last seen on April 5th on Bates Avenue in the Villas. Shibles is a white male, standing approximately 5’4″, and weighing about 150 pounds with blue eyes and blonde hair.
