Cape May County announced it’s looking for volunteers for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. The program involves the preparation of tax forms, assists with meals on wheels deliveries, and mentoring pre-school children. Freeholder Jeff Pierson announced that anyone who wants to help with tax form preparation would get training by the IRS.
Wildwood businessman Brendan Sciarra is the new Chairperson of the Cape May County Democratic Committee. Sciarra replaces Jeff Sutherland, who was appointed to be the new prosecutor for Cape May County. The announcement was made on the democrats’ social media page.

Cape May County will likely make an investment into a homeless, after hours helpline. The County freeholders meet the day after Christmas and may authorize a deal that will establish the hotline service. The Division of Social Services would be in charge of the hotline.
Jeffrey Sutherland was sworn in Thursday as the new prosecutor for Cape May County. Sutherland replaces Robert Taylor, who retired at the end of November. New Jersey Attorney General Christopher Porrino says Sutherland has a wealth of legal experience and is eminently qualified to assume the office.
Jeff Sutherland will be sworn in as the new Cape May County Prosecutor on Thursday. The Prosecutor’s Office announced that Sutherland will be sworn in at the Old Historic Court House Building late Thursday morning. He used to serve as the leader of the Cape May County Democratic Party.
The Wildwood Golf Club in Middle Township has been sold. The Press of Atlantic City reports that the club has been sold to a group of current and new members. The Club has hired a professional management staff to handle day to day operations.
Cape May County Freeholder Marie Hayes has been selected to serve as the 2nd Vice President on the New Jersey Association of Counties. The Board advocates for the services and mission of county governments. Hayes is the only representative on the Board from our region.
Cape May County’s Fare Free Transportation service has received recognition as the Outstanding Transportation System of the Year by the New Jersey Council on Special Transportation. Freeholder Marie Hayes made the announcement, saying she is proud of the accomplishments of the Fare Free Transportation management and staff.
The Cape May County Office of Emergency Management has issued a Code Blue advisory. The advisory goes into effect Tuesday night and will last through Thursday morning. Overnight low temperatures are expected to fall into the low 20s.
