Some movement on bringing industry to the Cape May County Airport in Lower Township. County officials announced a partnership with the Atlantic County Improvement Authority to bring a so-called “Tech Village” to the Everlon building. New buildings will be construction to house companies in various technology sectors that the County is actively recruiting.
Your electric bills may be going up by over eight percent. Atlantic City Electric has requested a rate hike request of 8.25 percent from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. The utility is continuing a modernization program of its power grid. The average customer would see their bills increase by $10 per month.
Cape May County will hold it’s annual “We Check for 21” effort Tuesday at the Wildwoods Convention Center. State health officials have lifted warnings imposed on more than 40 beaches in the State due to unhealthy levels of fecal coliform bacteria. New sampling conducted this week show all of the beaches in our region to have levels well below the unacceptable threshold.

This weekend marked the 40th anniversary of the Cape May County Zoo. A celebration was held on Saturday that featured local politicians and a recognition of Conservation Day. All money raised during the day long event, with the American Association of Zoo Keepers matching the total of the organization that received the most money.

Van Drew captured the democratic nomination Tuesday night, while Grossman was the republican winner over favorite Hirsh Singh. Turnout was light throughout southern New Jersey.
