4-H fair week has arrived in Cape May County. The Fair begins Thursday and will run through Saturday. It’s the 50th anniversary of the foundation that runs the fair that includes livestock, a children’s farm, RC car racing, and of course, food.
The United States Coast Guard is advising mariners that it will be placing seasonal buoys in the intracoastal waterway between Cape May and Toms River starting next week. Boaters are being asked to operate at a slow speed while the diving operations occur, starting in Toms River and moving south.

Somers Point resident Brian Fitzherbert will run for the republican nomination to challenge Congressman Jeff Van Drew in next year’s election. Fitzherbert issued a press release this week saying that he is a businessman, engineer and worked for two Fortune 500 companies.
25 officials from the People’s Republic of China visited Cape May County during the July 4th holiday weekend. The visit was part of a mission to the United States to learn and exchange ideas on tourism marketing and promotion. The visit was hosted by the Cape May County Department of Tourism.
All bathing beaches in Cape May County’s oceanfront are open for business this holiday weekend. State and County officials say all of the ocean water has tested clean and the beaches are in great shape for the weekend. Record crowds are expected due to a hot forecast.
Traffic volume delays are already in place in South Jersey as thousands rush to the shore for the holiday weekend. Cape Counseling Services is now part of a three-company merger that forms a larger behavioral health care organization. The new company is called Acenda Integrated Health. The company will have 56 locations through a ten county region, including Cape May County.
Short term rentals at the shore could soon be exempt from new state taxes if Governor Murphy signs a new bill into law. The State Legislature has approved a bill that would exempt short term rentals of homes from the taxes. The Assembly approved the measure on Thursday.
